Bridge to Japan
This event has passed.
Acclaimed piano and violin duo Sakiko Ohashi and Reiko Tachibana will perform at The Moss Center on Friday, October 4, presenting a concert of Japanese-inspired chamber music titled Bridge to Japan. The performance is a tribute to Frank Morris Jonas, an Englishman who deeply immersed himself in Japanese culture during the late 19th century and was a significant contributor to the art of Netsuke. Blending classical and contemporary works inspired by Jonas’ life, the program features Ralph Vaughan Williams’ evocative 6 Studies on English Folk Songs, as well as contemporary pieces by American and Japanese composers. Highlights include a commissioned work by Katsuji Maeda, Stephen Hartke’s evocative Netsuke and Asako Hirabayashi’s lively Fandango.
