Ice cream shops abound in Greater Miami and Miami Beach, offering everything from gelato to seasonal fruit flavors and unique cone creations. What sets apart these frozen treat shops is their deliciously innovative flavors, many of which are made using local ingredients and take inspiration from the destination’s Caribbean influences. These are the best ice cream shops in Miami to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Ice Cream with Cuban Flair
Azucar Ice Cream
Azucar Ice Cream is an only-in-Miami kind of ice cream shop. The Cuban-influenced flavors rotate daily and include seasonal classics such as mamey and avocado, plus regular flavors such as cuatro leches and rum cake with walnuts. The original Azucar ice cream shop is located in the center of Little Havana on Calle Ocho, and is easily identifiable by the colossal ice cream cone on the front of the building. There’s a second location (Azucar South) in the Pinecrest area.
Coppelia
Coppelia, located near Miami International Airport, is a family-owned ice cream institution open since 1989. It offers authentic creations such as jijona nougat (Turrón de Jijona), made from roasted Marcona almonds, honey, sugar and egg whites. Don't miss the caramel and strawberry bonbon. Other fun options include 2 scoops served with sponge cake, a brownie or a banana, or a float featuring a scoop over a glass of Coke or classic flan.
Tio Colo’s
Tio Colo, with a location in Hialeah and near the Westchester area, focuses on the flavors of Cuba, presented in the form of ice cream sandwiches. The first store was opened in 2008 and top favorites remain mango, guava and coconut. The ice cream is served between two slices of Italian sponge cake. The store also features cones, shakes and Cuban pizza.
Ice Cream With A Twist
Icy-N-Spicy
Icy-N-Spicy in Miami Beach is a family-run frozen dessert shop that combines Asian and European flavors into whimsical creations made with local fresh ingredients, including the viral fruit-shaped ice cream. Don't miss the light and creamy propitious mango, which is wrapped in a delicate white chocolate shell and looks just like the real fruit. The flavor is made with mango puree, but there are also dairy-free and vegan options available. The shop also sells a number of other fruit flavors that are shaped like actual coconut and dragon fruits. One of Icy-N-Spicy’s most popular flavors is the Dubai Chocolate ice cream.
Salt & Straw
Founded in Portland, Oregon, Salt & Straw is known for its creative, small-batch ice creams made with milk from grass-fed cows and all kinds of interesting ingredients. The creations range from Peanut Butter & Jelly Pound Cake, made with salted sweet cream ice cream with blueberry jam, baked peanut butter crumbles and hunks of pound cake; to Chocolate Gooey Brownie, featuring chocolate brownie batter folded into chocolate ice cream. Also popular is the Tacolate: cinnamon-ancho ice cream loaded into a taco-shaped waffle cone. You can find Salt & Straw locations in Wynwood, inside CocoWalk in Coconut Grove and on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach.
Aubi & Ramsa
Aubi & Ramsa is a petite shop hidden away in a courtyard of the Miami Design District delivering joy in the form of boozy and delicious ice cream. Flavors range from rum ice cream, made with Barbados tiramisu, mascarpone ice cream and Mount Gay Black Barrel Rum; to piña colada, based on pineapple and coconut cream ice cream mixed with Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva. Champagne floats and an affogato bar are also available at the store.
Chill N’ Ice Cream
Chill N’ Ice Cream is a shop that makes nitrogen ice cream in South Miami, Pinecrest and Aventura. Customers choose a base ice cream or yogurt, then a flavor like banana, biscotti or coffee. Seasonal favorites include guava and cream cheese, mango and passionfruit. Add-ons for your scoop include granola, gummy bear and fresh berries. Vegan, gluten-free, daily-free and no sugar added selections are also available. The addition of nitrogen flash-freezes the ice cream base instantly, creating an ultra-smooth, creamy texture by preventing ice crystals from forming, without leaving any trace of nitrogen in the ice cream.
Miami Classics
Charlie’s Ice Cream
Charlie’s Ice Cream is a beloved soft-serve shop that was once a Dairy Queen and still has a drive-through window and outdoor tables in the back. With locations in Westchester and Hialeah, Charlie’s is known for its classic soft-serve, with vanilla, chocolate or vanilla and chocolate twist on tap. Choose from close to 30 different toppings, such as Oreos, nuts and sprinkles.
GelatoGo
GelatoGo, in South Beach, creates its flavors with authentic Italian ingredients, such as Sicilian Bronte pistachios and hazelnuts from Piedmonte. Classic flavors like coffee, lemon, passionfruit and hazelnut are on offer by the cup, while the big ice cream cone outside welcomes customers to the store. The shop’s sorbet and gelato flavors, shakes and cones are created from a mix of imported ingredients and local fruits, including purple dragonfruit and gianduja chocolate. The shop offers gelato-making classes, too.
Kosher Ice Cream Treats
Miami ‘N’ Ice
Enjoy a new shape of ice cream at Miami 'N' Ice, where myriad flavors are pressed into thin sheets and rolled up like flowers. Customers can create their own rolled ice cream flavors or choose from combinations such as Oreo and strawberry or butter cookie crunch with caramel. All of the selections are kosher and some vegan and dairy-free options are available, too. The store has a location in Miami Beach, as well as a free-standing location in North Miami Beach.
Skoops
The Israeli owner of Skoops gelateria in Bayside Marketplace in Downtown Miami grew up in Milan and wanted to bring those traditional gelato flavors to Miami when he opened his shop. The store offers a selection of 32 standard flavors. The 2 most popular are pistachio and hazelnut. All the ice creams are kosher and some of them are vegan, non-dairy and sugar-free.
Museum of Ice Cream
An Ice Cream Lover's Dream Come True
The Museum of Ice Cream in Downtown Miami immortalizes what everyone loves about ice cream. Both parents and kids – who are asked to choose an honorary ice cream name upon arrival – can enjoy unlimited ice cream samples that are rotated seasonally; a game room; a hall of freezers full of surprises, and a plunge-in, pink sprinkle pool. A favorite area in the ice cream museum is the Cream Liner, which transports guests to Frostyland with fly-by view of Waffle Mountain. Its multiple exhibits make for great photos, and advance reservations are suggested.
