Celebrate Coral Gables’ centennial year with Centennial Gables Bike Tours, a monthly series hosted by the Coral Gables Museum from January 19 to December 21, 2025. These guided tours explore the history, architecture and natural beauty of "The City Beautiful," offering a unique way to engage with its storied past and vibrant present.
Tours take place on the third Sunday of each month, starting at 10 a.m. at the Coral Gables Museum. Each event features a different theme and route, with options for leisurely bike rides or walking tours through the city’s iconic tree-lined streets, historic landmarks and scenic parks. Admission includes museum access and is priced at $10, or $5 for Museum members, Bike Walk Coral Gables members, Coral Gables city employees, and children under 12. Participants must bring their own bike and ensure it is in good working condition.
Centennial Tour Schedule:

January 19 – Centennial Kickoff Bicycle Tour
Visit homes built in 1925, the year Coral Gables was incorporated, and participate in creating a special centennial-themed message. -
February 16 – Bahamian History Tour
Explore the MacFarlane Homestead Historic District with tour guide Mayor Vince Lago to learn about the contributions of Bahamian settlers during Black History Month. -
March 16 – Bike & BBQ: A Cycle Day Event
Ride to Matheson Hammock Park for a picnic at the historic pavilion. This tour departs from the Coral Gables Youth Center (405 University Dr.). -
April 27 – UM Centennial Tour (1925)
Celebrate the University of Miami’s centennial with a tour of its Coral Gables campus, highlighting its architecture, history and future. -
May 18 – Downtown Walking Tour
Former Mayor Don Slesnick leads a walking tour of Coral Gables’ historic downtown and its iconic buildings. -
June 15 – George Merrick’s Birthday Tour
Discover the birthplace of Coral Gables and the Merrick family’s contributions as part of George Merrick’s birthday celebration. -
July 20 – George Merrick’s Fountains, Waterways, and Parks
Led by Commissioner Rhonda Anderson, this ride explores water features like the Venetian Pool and De Soto Fountain. Departs from the Coral Gables Youth Center. -
August 17 – Canopy Tour: George Merrick’s Vision
Enjoy a shaded ride through streets lined with trees planted by George Merrick a century ago, guided by a local expert. -
September 21 – George Merrick’s Entrances
Visit the grand entrances envisioned by Merrick, guided by former City Commissioner Ralph Cabrera. -
October 19 – Historic Buildings of Phineas Paist
Learn about the architectural legacy of Phineas Paist, who designed iconic structures like City Hall and the Venetian Pool. -
November 16 – Historic Homes
Bike through Coral Gables’ residential streets to see historic homes from the city’s early years. -
December 21 – George Merrick’s Villages
Explore the seven international-themed villages built as part of George Merrick’s vision, showcasing architectural styles from around the world.
