Cey Adams Master Collage Class at Art of Hip Hop
Feb 22, 2025
From: 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Iconic hip-hop visual culture comes to life through hands-on creative exploration with one of the genre's pioneering artists. The Museum of Graffiti presents a master collage class with legendary graphic designer Cey Adams on Saturday, February 22 at the Art of Hip Hop in Wynwood.
As the founding creative director of Def Jam Recordings, Adams shaped the visual identity of hip-hop through his work with artists like Run DMC, Beastie Boys, Public Enemy and Jay-Z. His artistic journey began in New York's graffiti scene alongside Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring, evolving into a distinctive style that combines elements of 60s pop art, vintage sign painting and comics.
This intimate workshop takes place within Adams' current retrospective exhibition, which showcases 40 years of his work including over 50 influential album covers. Participants will learn his signature pre-digital collage techniques that helped define hip-hop's golden era, using physical materials to create layered compositions.
The class, part of the Monster Energy Monthly Program Series, includes all necessary art supplies. Doors open at 3:45 p.m. at the Art of Hip Hop gallery space.
