Curator's Choice: Earth Day
Apr 17, 2025
From: 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Explore the dramatic transformation of Miami's urban environment through the eyes of artists and curators who have documented its changing landscape. Curator's Choice: Earth Day will be held on Thursday, April 17 at The Wolfsonian - FIU, featuring an insightful conversation focused on the intersection of art, development and environmental sustainability.
This special Earth Day program brings together chief curator Silvia Barisione and Miami-based artists Jula Tüllmann of Hettler.Tullmann and Rosemarie Chiarlone, whose work is currently showcased in the installation Mapping Trajectories. The discussion will examine how these contemporary artists' practices relate to works featured in the exhibition The Big World: Alternative Landscapes in the Modern Era.
Participants will gain perspective on Miami's complex relationship with urban development, sustainability initiatives and land use over time. The conversation offers an opportunity to understand how artists document and interpret environmental change in one of America's most rapidly evolving coastal cities, providing context for broader discussions about climate resilience and sustainable urban planning.
