Design Influences on Coral Gables
Feb 26, 2025
From: 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM
Explore the architectural heritage that shaped one of South Florida's most distinctive cities. Design Influences on Coral Gables kicks off the inaugural Teofilo Victoria Lecture Series at the Coral Gables Museum on Wednesday, February 26.
Guest speaker R. Samuel Roche, partner at Stephenson Roche Partners and accomplished architectural scholar, will examine the City Beautiful movement's evolution from the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago to its implementation in 1920s Coral Gables. Drawing from his extensive background in classical design and urban planning, Roche will analyze architectural drawings and discuss the work of designers who influenced both cities, while considering the movement's continued relevance to modern urban planning in Coral Gables.
This educational evening, organized in partnership with the The Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA), Florida Chapter and the University of Miami School of Architecture, begins with a cocktail reception at 5:30 p.m., followed by the lecture and Q&A session from 6:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.
