Fighting Climate Change with Butterflies
This event has passed.
Discover the connection between gardening, butterflies and climate action in an informative session for both novice and experienced gardeners. Fighting Climate Change with Butterflies will take place on Tuesday, April 22, in the Third Floor Conference Room of the Otto G. Richter Library as part of the University of Miami Libraries' Earth Week 2025 programming.
Presenter Mary Benton from Bound by Beauty will demonstrate practical ways to combat environmental challenges through thoughtful gardening practices. Attendees will learn how cultivating native plants creates wildlife habitats, reduces carbon footprints, conserves water resources and protects essential pollinators that are vital to our ecosystems.
The free session highlights the role butterflies play as both indicators of environmental health and as catalysts for community engagement with nature. Participants will also discover how butterfly-friendly gardens naturally attract songbirds, adding another layer of biodiversity and enjoyment to personal green spaces.
