Filmmaker Bootcamp with Freddy Rodriguez

The Filmmaker Bootcamp with Freddy Rodriguez runs on Saturdays from May 3 to May 31, at FilmGate Miami/Downtown Media Center. This four-week course is designed for participants at all experience levels, from beginners to established filmmakers looking to refine their approach.

The curriculum explores essential directing techniques including visual composition, blocking, staging and camera placement, while addressing the psychological elements that enhance storytelling impact. Each three-hour session builds on the previous week's knowledge, covering topics like finding your directorial voice, pre-production processes and navigating funding and distribution channels.

Instructor Freddy Rodriguez brings two decades of professional experience to the workshop, including his work on the HBO short Malabar and the Emmy-winning PBS documentary series Open Dialogues. This program offers Miami's creative community a valuable opportunity to learn proven filmmaking methods from a recognized local talent while developing practical skills for visual storytelling.
