Fuacatapám: La India Agripina
Jan 23, 2025
From: 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM
Celebrate Cuban storytelling with the launch of Iván Acosta’s latest work during an evening of bilingual conversation at the Roberto C. Goizueta Pavilion. Fuacatapám: La India Agripina, presented on Thursday, January 23, offers a blend of magical realism, humor and political satire. Acosta will be joined by editors Lic. Luis Leonel León and Dr. Rolando Pérez to discuss the book’s cultural significance and themes.
The narrative follows La India Agripina and Don Liborio as they navigate a surreal journey through post-revolutionary Cuba, encountering figures like José Martí and Antonio Maceo. With echoes of Lydia Cabrera’s Afro-Cuban magic and choteo humor, the story reflects on political repression and the enduring Cuban spirit. This event will be presented in English and Spanish.
