Garcia and Ellis Quartet
May 18, 2025
Starting: 5:00 PM
Experience an evening of contemporary classical and jazz music in a scenic beachfront setting on Ocean Drive. The Garcia and Ellis Quartet will perform on Sunday, May 18, at Lummus Park, between 14th Street and 14th Place, as part of the Ocean Drive Promenade Music Series.
This free concert features Cuban-born Orlando Jacinto Garcia, a prominent contemporary classical composer with over 200 works to his name and four Latin Grammy nominations. Garcia is known for his "time suspended - haunting sonic explorations" and serves as a resident composer for the Miami Symphony Orchestra and professor at Florida International University's Herbert and Nicole Wertheim School of Music & Performing Arts.
Joining Garcia is Ryan Ellis, an accomplished jazz pianist and award-winning music educator in Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Ellis has performed internationally and previously directed choral programs that have appeared at prestigious venues including the Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall. His academic background includes degrees from the University of Miami and Florida International University.
Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs for seating. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be relocated to The Betsy Hotel. This event is part of the weekly Sunday concert series sponsored by The City of Miami Beach, The GMCVB and The Ocean Drive Association.
