Gonzalo Hernandez Artist Reception

Celebrate the culmination of a summer artist residency with an evening of conversation, art and community at Miami Dade College’s Padrón Campus. The Gonzalo Hernandez Artist Reception takes place on Saturday, August 9 at the Padrón Campus Art Gallery.

Hernandez’s multidisciplinary practice—spanning installation, sculpture, painting, photography and film—draws from personal and cultural experiences to explore ideas of labor, place and belonging. During his residency, presented by the Museum of Art and Design (MOAD) at MDC, the artist will develop new work on-site and engage with students and the broader community through open studio sessions.

The reception offers a chance to meet the artist, view works in progress and participate in ongoing conversations about artistic process and the role of the artist within educational and civic spaces. Light refreshments will be served. Free parking is available at the Padrón Campus flat lot, located at 2501 SW 6th Street.
