Jun 20, 2025
Starting: 7:00 PM
Gospel Fest Miami Weekend opens with a special film screening that explores the roots and resonance of Black spiritual music in American culture. On Friday, June 20, the Adrienne Arsht Center will host a free screening of GOSPEL: The Gospel Train at the Carnival Studio Theater.
Created by scholar Henry Louis Gates, Jr., this episode from the PBS docuseries Gospel examines the enduring influence of gospel music, tracing its evolution from the church to its impact on genres such as blues, soul and hip-hop. The screening will be followed by a live conversation with Grammy Award-winning artist and gospel pioneer Dr. Bobby Jones, offering insight into the legacy and cultural significance of the genre.
Admission is free, but a First Access Pass is required. This event is part of Gospel Fest Miami Weekend, a three-day celebration of gospel’s musical, spiritual and historical impact.
