Celebrate Haitian Heritage Month with an afternoon of music, art and storytelling honoring the culture of Haiti. Haiti Rhythm of Our Heartbeat: Kwè takes place on Sunday, May 11 at the Little Haiti Cultural Complex, with free admission for all guests.
This signature event is part of a month-long celebration presented at the Complex throughout May. The evening includes live performances, an art exhibition and a cocktail hour featuring Haitian-inspired hors d'oeuvres. Highlights include an acoustic set by the internationally acclaimed group Strings, traditional dance by NSL Danse Ensemble, a keynote address by author, professor and humorist Castro Desroches, and a theatrical performance by Ny Toussaint and Samuel Duperval. Additional program elements include poetry by Zazou Pierre, saxophone by Wildmayer Marcelin and vocal performances by Ernst Pierre and Dr. Nancy Calixte.
Presented in partnership with A Reflection of Me, Inc., Juicing With Art, the City of Miami and Miami-Dade County, the event offers a space to reflect on Haitian resilience and heritage through multidisciplinary expression.
