From: 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Veteran journalists discuss Little Haiti's cultural significance and challenges at FIU forum. iWitness Lunch Break: Being Human Festival will be held on Friday, April 18 at The Forum in AC II, within FIU's Caplin School of Journalism and Media. This free event is presented by the FIU Wolfsonian Public Humanities Lab as part of the I Am Little Haiti: A Global Borderless Caribbean Homecoming series.
The program features a conversation between two Miami Herald journalists: Senior Reporter Jacqueline Charles and Senior Photojournalist Carl Juste. Their discussion will explore the importance of place for immigrant communities in Little Haiti and the challenges they face, including climate change, deportation and gentrification.
Complementing the journalistic perspective, attendees will also enjoy a musical performance by artist Inez Barlatier, adding a cultural dimension to the exploration of Little Haiti's community identity and ongoing transformation.
