Starting: 5:00 PM
The Miami International Piano Festival presents an evening of Mozart and Ravel with Belgian pianist Julien Libeer on Sunday, May 18, at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center. Known for his expressive sensitivity and commitment to a wide-ranging repertoire, Libeer has graced prestigious venues worldwide, from the Barbican Hall in London to the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and is celebrated for his deep understanding of both classical and modern works.
A dedicated interpreter of chamber music and solo repertoire alike, Libeer has collaborated with prominent artists such as cellist Camille Thomas and violinist Lorenzo Gatto, with whom he recorded the complete Beethoven Violin Sonatas—a project that earned him the Diapason d’Or de l’Année and an ECHO Klassik Award. His recordings with harmonia mundi, including the innovative Bach - Bartók and J.S. Bach & Beyond: A Well-Tempered Conversation, showcase his adventurous approach and thoughtful interpretations. Beyond the concert stage, Libeer engages in socially impactful music projects, including his work as Artistic Director of Singing Molenbeek, which brings high-level choir education to children in Brussels, fostering personal and social growth through music.
