King Mango Strut Parade
Jan 05, 2025
Starting: 2:00 PM
Step into one of South Florida's quirkiest traditions at the King Mango Strut Parade, taking place on Sunday, January 5 in Coconut Grove. Known for its irreverence, this annual tradition features satirical costumes, marching bands and floats, often poking fun at local, national and global events.
The parade winds through the streets of Coconut Grove, beginning at Commodore Plaza, then onto Main Highway and after that Grand Avenue. Whether it's the New Orleans Funeral Marching Band or local groups like the Grove Jugglers, participants showcase a blend of humor and creativity that keeps spectators entertained throughout the day.
Originally conceived in 1982 after being rejected from the King Orange Bowl Parade, the King Mango Strut has grown into a popular community event, drawing thousands of attendees each year. After the parade, the festivities continue with live entertainment and music throughout Coconut Grove, making it a full day of fun for all ages.
This free, volunteer-driven event is organized by King Mango Productions, a non-profit dedicated to keeping the spirit of the parade alive. Join in the festivities and experience the unique charm of Coconut Grove as it rings in the New Year with laughter and community spirit.
