Lakou PAMM: A Journey of Music and Memory
May 08, 2025
From: 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM
Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) will host an evening dedicated to Haitian storytelling, music and community as part of its fifth annual Haitian Heritage Night, presented in collaboration with the Route 1804 Foundation and Commissioner Keon Hardemon. Taking place on Thursday, May 8, Lakou PAMM: A Journey of Music and Memory, pays tribute to the legacy of Maurice Sixto, the renowned Haitian oral historian and cultural figure.
The museum will be transformed into a vibrant gathering space featuring live performances by DJ Gardy, DJ Bugz, Tradisyon Lakou Lakay, Rara Lakay and Eyo Music, reflecting the energy and diversity of Haiti’s musical traditions. In addition to music and dancing, the evening celebrates Haitian heritage through storytelling and shared cultural experiences rooted in the lakou—an important communal space in Haitian life.
Free with RSVP, this event offers an opportunity to engage with Haitian art and culture in one of Miami’s most iconic contemporary art settings. Enjoy happy hour on the terrace from 5–8 p.m., along with live music, performances and DJs from 6-10:30 p.m. Early arrival is encouraged, as capacity is limited.
