Lauren Shapiro's Pastiche: A Behind the Scenes Tour
Jul 11, 2025
From: 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM
Art and architecture come together in a unique behind-the-scenes experience at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, offering visitors a closer look at the 2024 Contemporary Arts Program (CAP) installation by artist Lauren Shapiro. Lauren Shapiro’s Pastiche: A Behind the Scenes Tour takes place on Sunday, May 4, giving attendees the chance to engage directly with the artist and explore her site-specific work within the historic estate.
The tour highlights Pastiche, Shapiro’s sculptural response to the artistic legacy of Paul Chalfin, Vizcaya’s founding artistic director, in celebration of the 150th anniversary of his birth. Participants will learn how Shapiro reinterprets Chalfin’s influence through contemporary ceramics and installations, drawing inspiration from three key spaces: the Breakfast Room, Enclosed Loggia and Reception Room.
This guided experience includes museum admission. Tickets are $39 for adults and $24 for children ages 6–12. The program is not recommended for children under 5 and involves navigating stairs. Guests should present their Eventbrite ticket at the admissions booth upon arrival. The event takes place rain or shine.
