Mabe Fratti with Las Nubes

Guatemalan-born experimental cellist and composer brings her hypnotic soundscapes to Miami this spring. Mabe Fratti with Las Nubes will perform at Shirley's Theater at Gramps on Thursday, April 17, from 7 to 11 p.m., presented by Southern Gothic Howl.

This 21+ event features Fratti, an innovative musician now based in Mexico City, who blends cello, voice and synthesizers to create immersive sonic experiences. Her performances weave together contemporary elements like shoegaze and dream pop with traditional influences ranging from Gregorian chants to Sephardi music.

Following her 2019 debut LP Pies Sobre la Tierra, Fratti has gained critical recognition from Pitchfork, NPR, BBC and The Guardian for her recent album Será que ahora podremos entendernos (Will we be able to understand each other now?), which expands her cello-centered compositions with vintage synths, guitars and field recordings.

Miami-based trio Las Nubes will join as special guests, bringing their distinctive blend of shoegaze, punk and dream pop to the evening.
