Miami Vibes: Urban Sketching Workshop
Through Apr 26, 2025
weekly on Saturday
From: 10:00 AM to noon
Learn to transform Miami Beach's vibrant streetscapes into personal works of art during this hands-on urban sketching series. Miami Vibes: Urban Sketching Workshop takes place on Saturdays from April 12-26, at various iconic locations around Oolite Arts.
This three-session workshop welcomes artists of all skill levels to learn the fundamentals of urban sketching while exploring distinct Miami landmarks. Participants will develop techniques for simplifying complex scenes into compelling compositions, with guidance on perspective, proportions, design, focal points and incorporating figures. The instructor will also cover effective use of color schemes and creative techniques to bring sketches to life.
Each session explores a different location: Casa Casuarina (the former Versace Mansion) on April 12, Collins Park at the Bass Museum on April 19 and the historic Lincoln Theatre building on April 26. Attendees can register for individual sessions or the complete series.
The workshops are led by Will McGaul, a professional art instructor since 2011 and member of Urban Sketchers Miami. Participants should bring their own materials, including a hardbound sketchbook and marking tools such as pens, pencils, markers or portable watercolors.
