MLK Jr. Freedom Run

Honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with an active morning of community, reflection and movement. Taking place on Saturday, January 18, at Playita, across from the Miami Marine Stadium on Key Biscayne, the annual MLK Jr. Freedom Run 5K/10K/13.1 celebrates Dr. King’s commitment to justice, equality and peace.

The event welcomes participants of all ages and paces, whether you prefer to run or walk. Designed as a stress-free and inclusive experience, it offers a series of wave starts to ensure a comfortable setting for everyone. Participants can track their times using personal apps or request assistance from on-site coordinators, with no timing chips involved.

Registration includes a swag bag featuring a race T-shirt, finisher’s medal, towel or giveaway, a digital training pack, and an invitation to join local running clubs. Wave times of 7:30 a.m., 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. are available on a first-come, first-served basis, with virtual run options or waitlist access for waves that sell out. Final event details and course maps will be shared via email the Wednesday before the race.
