Museum and a Movie: The Great Leap

The Wolfsonian invites you to a special evening featuring the early work of Leni Riefenstahl on Thursday, October 17. Before her controversial later career, Riefenstahl was celebrated for her mountain films, a genre popular in Germany during the Weimar Republic.
Museum and a Movie: The Great Leap begins with a free guided tour of the museum’s The Big World: Alternative Landscapes in the Modern Era exhibition at 6:15 p.m., followed by a screening of Riefenstahl's silent romantic comedy, The Great Leap. The film, starring Riefenstahl, follows a young Italian woman who falls in love with a city-dwelling tourist amidst the breathtaking Alpine scenery.
This opportunity to see Riefenstahl’s early work is co-organized with the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany.
