Embrace Miami's art scene at Collaboartive's Noche de Arte series every Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. For three successful years, the InterContinental Miami has hosted Noche de Arte, a free and open-to-the-public art activation and exhibition. A different artist in residence is featured every month in the hotel's Gallery Lounge, where you can participate in a creative play session and view the artist's exhibition. Light bites from Toro Toro will also be available.
Here's a glimpse at the featured artists in residence through November:
- January: Rick Cohen transforms discarded circular objects into vibrant assemblage and sculptural collages. Drawing on over 35 years of experience and formal training in metalsmithing and jewelry design, Cohen creates compelling pieces that merge sustainability with artistic innovation. His work, characterized by dynamic interplays of color, shape and texture, sparks dialogue about design and environmental consciousness.
- February - Black History Month: Vanta Black explores Black womanhood through figurative portraiture and woven assemblage. Her evocative works encode themes of royalty and resistance while challenging conventional narratives.
- March - Womens History Month: Rebecca White creates multidisciplinary works that examine societal events through the lens of mythology and esoteric practices. Working across painting, mixed-media and sculpture, she weaves together themes of collective consciousness, alchemy and imagined languages. Her work, featured in venues including Red Dot Miami and Club Gallery Miami, explores the intersection of human experience and unseen energies.
- April - National Poetry Month: Silvana Soriano brings her international perspective as a visual artist, illustrator and educator to Miami's art scene. Originally from Rio de Janeiro, her work has been exhibited across multiple continents, including notable shows in Brazil, Spain, France and the United States. Her diverse practice spans printmaking, illustration and visual arts, enriched by residencies at institutions such as Ratcliffe Art + Design Incubator and La Maldita Estampa Printshop Barcelona.
- May - Haitian Heritage Month: Annick Duvivier creates mixed media paintings that explore the intersection of environmental conservation and feminine themes. The Haitian-born Miami artist's work has earned international recognition, with exhibitions at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago and the Yellowstone Museum of Art. Her pieces, found in collections including Miami International Airport and Tamarac Public Art, reflect her formal training from Altos de Chavon and Miami International University of Art & Design.
- June - Pride Month: Jacqueline Bermudez, a self-taught oil painter based in Miami since 1991, creates portraits that reflect spiritual connections and personal growth. Her work, characterized by bright colors, bold patterns and symbolic natural elements, has been featured in notable exhibitions including the Woman Made Gallery in Chicago. Though primarily working in oils, she also explores watercolors and pencil.
- July: Mónica Isla demonstrates her evolving artistic vision through continuous education and global exhibitions. Her work is currently featured at Artok Gallery locations in Rotterdam, Barcelona and Mexico, as well as the Circle Foundation of the Arts in Lyon. Through mentorship at Oolite Arts, she continues to develop her craft while maintaining an active presence in the global art community.
- August - American Artist Appreciation Month: Dan Ramirez, a Miami native of Cuban heritage, brings his mixed-media expertise to the residency program. His artistic journey, which began at Auburndale Elementary and led through New World School of the Arts, was enriched by his experience as a gallery assistant at Fredrick Snitzer's Gallery. His work reflects the influence of Cuban artists and various mentors who have shaped his creative development.
- September - Hispanic Heritage Month: Pamela Vasquez, a Chilean-born photographer, creates ethereal multi-exposure images that explore social and demographic issues. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts, she approaches photography as a form of light painting, producing work that challenges perceptions and invites dialogue about contemporary human experiences. Her multimedia art serves as a platform for exploring diverse narratives and encouraging audience reflection.
- October - Hispanic Heritage Month: Ramon Altamirano combines traditional and digital techniques in his mixed media practice. The Miami-based artist, holding both BFA and MFA degrees, works across various mediums including acrylic painting, digital art, printmaking and ceramics. His work is complemented by poetry that aligns with his visual expressions, showcasing his multidisciplinary approach to contemporary art.
- November: Eumelia Castro, a Venezuelan-born artist based in Miami since 2002, brings her background in advertising and graphic design to her fine art practice. Her work, inspired by nature and feminine beauty, incorporates various techniques including oil, acrylic, watercolor and mixed media to create textured, dynamic compositions. Her pieces have gained international recognition through exhibitions across the United States, Europe and Asia.
