O, Miami Poetry Festival
Through Apr 30, 2025
Experience the transformative power of poetry across diverse and unexpected locations throughout Miami and South Florida. The O, Miami Poetry Festival takes place April 1-30 at multiple venues, offering a month-long celebration that brings verse to gardens, schools, planetariums, cemeteries and even into the realm of local cuisine.
This annual event during National Poetry Month features a dynamic lineup of performances, installations and workshops designed to engage communities from all walks of life. The 2025 festival introduces Soy de Todas Partes (I am of all places), a civic publishing project that will ultimately showcase 100 student poems in public spaces, exploring multiculturalism and the modern immigrant experience.
Standout events include the debut of UniVERSE, an original poetic short film at the Frost Planetarium on April 2; poetry readings by acclaimed writers Rio Cortez and Morgan Parker; Poetry in Pajamas, a youth-centered event at Miami Beach Botanical Gardens; The Holy Office of Poetic Memory, a workshop for caregivers of individuals with dementia; and the Where Mangos Drop variety show featuring dance performances and skate demos at Miami Beach Bandshell.
The festival also celebrates the 10th anniversary of Zip Odes, a community poetry project that brings together participants from counties across South Florida at the iconic Vizcaya Museum & Gardens on April 23.
O, Miami extends beyond the festival through year-round initiatives including workshops, public art projects and mentorship programs. The organization aims to make poetry accessible to everyone, whether they identify as poets or not, transforming everyday spaces into vibrant canvases for creative expression and fostering connection across Miami's diverse communities.
