Preshow Conversation: Gospel and Civil Rights
Jun 21, 2025
Starting: 5:00 PM
As part of Gospel Fest Miami Weekend, the Adrienne Arsht Center will host a preshow conversation examining the historical intersection of music and activism. Taking place on Saturday, June 2 in the Peacock Education Center, this free discussion will explore the role of gospel music in the civil rights movement.
Attendees will gain insight into how gospel functioned not only as a spiritual outlet but also as a powerful force for social change. Through stories, commentary and historical context, the conversation will highlight how gospel music inspired resilience, unity and hope during a transformative era in American history.
The event is free with RSVP and serves as a prelude to the evening’s concert performance at the Arsht Center’s Knight Concert Hall.
