Slow Art Day
Apr 05, 2025
From: 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Experience the mindful approach to art appreciation during a special global celebration at FIU's premier museum. The Slow Art Day event, on Saturday, April 5 at the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum, invites visitors to discover the joy of looking at and loving art at their own pace, without expert guidance.
This immersive experience features collaborative writing and poetry games exploring traditional ecological knowledge with Love the Everglades Movement (represented by Rev. Houston Cypress and Jean Sarmiento), alongside sound bowl meditation and self-reflection sessions led by Miami-based artist Agua Dulce. Participants are encouraged to bring their own yoga mats for the meditation portions.
Love The Everglades Movement blends environmental action with cultural preservation to reconnect visitors with South Florida's sacred landscapes, while Agua Dulce, a queer, neurodivergent transdisciplinary artist and FIU alum, creates healing experiences rooted in care and collective restoration. The event is dedicated to the memory of Helena Venero and offers a thoughtful space for art appreciation, environmental awareness and personal reflection.
