Stiltsville & Key Biscayne Sunset Cruise
Jun 28, 2025
From: 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM
Visit Miami's most intriguing offshore community while enjoying spectacular bay views at sunset. The Stiltsville & Key Biscayne Sunset Cruise takes place on Saturday, June 28, offering a historical journey through Biscayne Bay's waters.
Led by HistoryMiami Museum's Resident Historian Dr. Paul George, this boat excursion explores the history of Stiltsville—a collection of colorful wooden structures built on shallow bay flats within Biscayne National Park. Participants will learn how these distinctive houses served as an exclusive retreat for the wealthy and well-connected during the mid-20th century, including the stories behind famous establishments like Crawfish Eddies and the Bikini Club. The narrated tour examines the community's evolution from its heyday to the seven preserved structures that remain today.
While cruising past landmarks including the Cape Florida Lighthouse, Key Biscayne and Miami's shoreline, Dr. George—a Miami native, published author and former professor with over 30 years of tour experience—will share tales of notable figures, memorable events and preservation efforts currently underway through Biscayne National Park and the Stiltsville Trust.
The tour departs from Island Queen Cruises at Bayside Marketplace. Participants should arrive between 5:15 and 5:50 p.m. for check-in, as the boat cannot return for late arrivals. Water and soda service are included in the ticket price, with additional refreshments available for purchase onboard.
