SWWIM Poetry: Hua Xi & Miami Poets
Mar 13, 2025
From: 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM
Discover the vibrant voices shaping contemporary poetry with an evening of readings and discussions at The Betsy-South Beach Library. Hosted by SWWIM (Supporting Women Writers in Miami) on Thursday, March 13, the event features acclaimed poet and artist Hua Xi alongside local writers Carolina Hospital, Nicole Hospital-Medina and Holly Iglesias, offering a diverse and engaging exploration of their work.
Hua Xi, a Stegner Fellow in Poetry at Stanford, brings her evocative voice to the evening, with poems featured in publications such as The Nation and The New Republic. Joining her are Carolina Hospital, whose poetry collections and collaborative works delve into themes of exile and identity; Nicole Hospital-Medina, a Cuban-American poet-activist and educator amplifying neurodivergent voices through her art and writing; and Holly Iglesias, a celebrated poet and recipient of numerous fellowships, currently working on an intergenerational memoir.
This event is part of an ongoing series by SWWIM, showcasing women’s contributions to literature. It’s a chance to connect with the literary community and discover the unique perspectives of these accomplished poets.
