The Artist as Educator
Mar 06, 2025
From: 06:30 PM to 08:00 PM
Explore the intersection of art, education and community during a compelling discussion presented by the Museum of Art and Design (MOAD) at Miami Dade College. On Thursday, March 6, The Artist as Educator examines the educational legacy and cultural connections highlighted in Kabuya Pamela Bowens-Saffo’s exhibition, From the Heights. This event underscores the role of women artist-educators in shaping community narratives and inspiring future generations.
The program features Bowens-Saffo, a curator and educator whose work reflects her family’s teaching legacy, alongside presenters Anita Sharma and Dr. Alex Cornelius. Together, they will discuss the importance of archival documentation in community building, the role of historic preservation in honoring cultural contributions, and the necessity of amplifying the work of underrepresented women creatives.
Complimentary refreshments will be served, and free parking is available at MDC’s Padrón Campus flat parking lot, located at 2501 SW 6th Street.
