The Danny Mixon Trio
Feb 23, 2025
Starting: 5:00 PM
Enjoy an evening of live jazz at the Ocean Drive Promenade Music series. The Danny Mixon Trio takes the stage on Sunday, February 23, at Lummus Park between 14th Street and 14th Place, as part of Ocean Drive Association's free weekly concert series on Miami Beach.
A Harlem-born pianist with a distinguished career, Danny Mixon brings decades of musical expertise to the stage. His impressive repertoire includes collaborations with jazz luminaries such as Lionel Hampton, Joe Williams, and Frank Foster. In May of 2004, Mixon was one of the first musicians to be honored by the National Jazz Museum in Harlem in a series entitled “Harlem Speaks,” which resulted in an invitation to the White House for Black Music Month. Beyond performing, Mixon has served as Musical Director at the Legendary Lenox Lounge and Minton's, while continuing to shape future generations of musicians through his work with Jazzmobile and the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music.
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnic fare to enhance their experience. In case of inclement weather, the performance will move indoors to The Betsy Hotel.
