The Filmmakers' Shortlist: Cuba Queer

Curated by Hansel Porras Garcia—Oolite Arts’ 2021 Cinematic Resident and current Cinematic Arts Director—this installment of the screening series highlights contemporary short films made by Cuban filmmakers and shot in Cuba. The works collectively examine LGBTQ+ experiences in a complex sociopolitical context, offering personal and layered perspectives from within a country governed by dictatorship since 1959.

The screening is part of a larger series that invites Oolite Arts residents and alumni to share the films that have shaped their creative practices and cinematic sensibilities.
