Through the lens of a pioneering photographer, discover intimate portraits that chronicle five decades of gender expression and identity. Transformations: Intimate Portraits, True Stories takes place on Wednesday, February 19 at the Wilzig Erotic Art Museum (WEAM) on Miami Beach, featuring the work of photographer Mariette Pathy Allen.
The event centers around Breaking Boundaries, a retrospective exhibition created in collaboration with the Kinsey Institute. Allen's photographs document transgender and gender-expansive communities worldwide, capturing personal moments of love, joy and challenge while tracking evolving social attitudes toward gender identity and expression.
Curated by Jesse Egner and Orestes Gonzalez, and organized by Kinsey Institute curator Rebecca Fasman, the evening includes a reception, an artist-led gallery tour and a moderated panel discussion. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore Allen's body of work while gaining insights into her decades-long dedication to an empathetic and dignified portrayal of gender-diverse communities.
