Walking Tour of Jean Willis Park

Take a morning stroll through one of South Florida’s most vibrant botanical landmarks during a guided walking tour. Held on Sunday, June 8 at Jean Willis Park, the Walking Tour of Miami-Dade County’s First Flowering Tree Park is part of the Royal Poinciana Fiesta lineup presented by the Tropical Flowering Tree Society.
Led by horticulturist Steve Pearson—who helped plant the park’s original flowering trees in 1992 and again in 2014—the tour highlights blooming yellow and orange poincianas alongside other tropical species. The walk offers a chance to learn about the park’s development, its floral diversity and the legacy of community-based greening initiatives in South Miami.
Jean Willis Park is located at 7220 SW 61 Court, with access only from SW 72 Street (Sunset Drive). Free parking is available in the adjacent city lot, excluding reserved spaces. Admission is free, or $30 for both the event and a new membership to the Tropical Flowering Tree Society.
