We Are Nice’n Easy: Soft Squeeze
Through Dec 12, 2024
Discover Soft Squeeze by We Are Nice’n Easy, on view at Esmé Miami Beach through December 12 as part of the City of Miami Beach’s No Vacancy exhibition. This site-specific installation explores the intersection of nature and culture through playful, fluid forms. As visitors move around and beneath the artwork, its shapes shift and merge, creating a dynamic visual narrative that reflects the subtropical complexity of Miami Beach. The piece invites contemplation on the relationship between cultural artifacts and natural habitats, encouraging a deeper appreciation of their coexistence.
We Are Nice’n Easy, a collaborative duo of Allison Matherly and Jeffrey Noble, are known for immersive mixed-media installations that draw on themes of self-help, recovery and interpersonal connection. Their work often incorporates subtropical motifs, pop culture references and wellness aesthetics to foster intimate, emotive exchanges. The duo has completed numerous public art projects across South Florida and earned accolades such as the South Florida Cultural Consortium Grant and Miami New Times’ “Best Mural” in 2017.
As part of No Vacancy, Soft Squeeze highlights the transformative power of public art in Miami Beach’s cultural identity. Funded by the City of Miami Beach Cultural Arts Council, the Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority, and the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau, the exhibition showcases 12 site-specific installations across South Beach, positioning the city as a vibrant hub for contemporary art and cultural engagement.
