The Official Website of Greater Miami & Miami Beach
By Amber Love Bond - December 05, 2024
Greater Miami & Miami Beach is famous for its gorgeous beaches, restaurant scene and for being a place where you can always have a great time. Sometimes, a fun night out involves a cocktail or two, but lately, many people are drinking less and even taking part in alcohol-abstinence months, like Dry January and Sober October. For them, mocktails (aka zero-proof non-alcoholic cocktails), made from high-quality, no-ABV spirits, fresh-pressed juices, and fancy tonics and sodas, are becoming more popular. Here are seven spots that serve some of the best mocktails in Miami.
Amara At Paraiso boasts one of the most stunning waterfront views in the destination, and if you’re looking to sip on mocktails with a view, the zero-proof section of this Wynwood restaurant’s cocktail menu delivers. The No-Proof Bulletproof is a delicious mocktail for those who enjoy a whiskey-like beverage. It’s made with Lyre’s American Malt, cherry-rosemary syrup and lemon. Rum lovers might opt for the Banana-Tai, made with Lyre’s Dark Cane non-alcoholic rum, banana, pineapple and lime. It’s a twist on the classic tiki beverage the Mai Tai. If you’re looking for something a little lighter and more refreshing, the El Gringo, made with Lyre’s Dry London, Lyre’s Italian Spritz, chicha morada and soda water, is a lovely purple, corn-infused, non-alcoholic spritz.
If you’re looking for a good time, make your way to Brickell and check out Puttshack, where you’ll find an intersection of food, drink and high-tech mini golf. Puttshack has an elaborate cocktail menu, including a handful of mocktail-style beverages. Choose from the H2No Ranch Water, made with Almave Blanco distilled blue agave (aka F1 driver Lewis Hamilton’s non-alcoholic tequila), fresh lime and soda water; the Cotton Candy Crush, with cotton candy syrup, lime juice and Red Bull Coconut; or Passion Fruit Lemonade, with cold-pressed passion fruit and lime juices and topped with Fever Tree sparkling lemon.
In the heart of the Miami Design District, the beloved Korean steakhouse and MICHELIN-starred Cote Miami is one of Miami’s hottest restaurants. While Cote has a reputation for its award-winning wine list and ice cold martinis, the “Zero ABV” section of its menu also has many great choices. For something bubbly and fresh, go for the Chan Chan, made with grapefruit, cinnamon, lime and club soda, or the Finesse, made with Earl Grey tea, coconut water, raspberry and lime. If you’re looking to wind down a bit, the Downtime mocktail might be for you. It’s made with Aplós Calme (a hemp-infused non-alcoholic spirit that’s supposed to help take the edge off), full spectrum hemp, hibiscus, orange and lemon.
Inspired by the rich heritage of Oaxaca, Maiz y Agave in Coral Gables transports diners to Mexico with its authentic decor and flavorful traditional menu offerings, from ceviches to tacos. You could wash it down with a selection of Mexican wine or margaritas, but there's also a creative mocktail menu with several delicious options. Using Mayawell – a prebiotic beverage designed to help retain healthy gut bacteria and improve digestion – the restaurant has crafted four delicious flavor pairings, including pear with lime Mayawell, pineapple with mango Mayawell, strawberry with ginger Mayawell and raspberry with cucumber Mayawell.
Known for having one of the most well-curated cocktail menus in the destination, Sexy Fish in Brickell also takes great pride in its alcohol-free offerings. With a dozen options, it’s easily the most extensive non-alcoholic cocktail list in town. Grab a seat at the massive bar or settle in for the night at a table, where you can enjoy the late-night entertainment while surrounded by $30 million dollars in art. Some of the most popular mocktail offerings include the Goldenberry, made with goldenberry, lavender, rose and soda water; the Mango, made with Seedlip Grove 42 non-alcoholic spirts, mango and sencha tea; and the Pineapple, made with The London Essence Co. roasted pineapple crafted soda, pineapple, green pepper, banana and chipotle.
Head over to MICHELIN Bib Gourmand-selected Zitz Sum in Coral Gables to enjoy dumplings and other Asian-inspired cuisine. This James Beard Award semifinalist offers four non-alcoholic beverages that pair perfectly with the inventive dishes on Chef Pablo Zitzmann’s menu. One of the most fun is the JoJo Tea, made with a mix of locally sourced teas from JoJo Tea, including Jasmine Cloud, Santana Blend, Peach Oolong and Chai. For those who crave a riff on classic lemonade, the menu features an Arnold Palmer-style version with ginger and hibiscus. There’s also the Sparkling Shrub Pomelo, made with pineapple, Makrut lime and Champagne vinegar.
If you’re looking for a lively time while hanging out in Wynwood, 1-800-Lucky is always a good bet. With live music and a secret reservation-only karaoke room, there’s always something going on at this Asian food hall. From poke to dim sum to bao buns, it’s ideal for lunch, dinner and even a quick snack. But no visit to 1-800-Lucky is complete without a stop at the bar. The non-alcoholic cocktails here are delicious mocktail versions of popular cocktails. From a margarita to a tequila mule to a Jungle Bird and, in true Miami fashion, a mojito, these beverages are all made using Ritual products, which are some of the top zero-proof spirits available.
