PortMiami is known as the “Cruise Capital of the World.” Here’s what you need to know about getting to PortMiami from the airport or your hotel whether you are driving, parking, renting a car, using public transportation or taking a rideshare.

There is ample parking at PortMiami for vehicles of cruise passengers and a free, wheelchair-accessible shuttle to pick up passengers and their luggage from their cars and drop them off at their designated cruise terminal.

PortMiami Directions

Getting to PortMiami is simple, and the port offers convenient on-port parking as well as easy access to public transportation, taxis and rideshares.

From Miami International Airport

Miami International Airport is only eight miles away. Most cruise lines offer convenient shuttle service to PortMiami. You can also take Metrorail’s orange line to Government Center Station. Then take Metromover to Freedom Tower Station and opt for a taxi, rideshare or the free Coral Way Trolley to reach PortMiami.

From Fort Lauderdale International Airport

Fort Lauderdale International Airport is about 26 miles away. Head down to the lower level (Arrivals) to take taxis, rideshares, limousines and vans. Alternatively, take the free shuttle bus at the airport to the Tri-Rail, which will take you to the Metrorail Transfer Station, where you can continue with the Metrorail to Government Center Station. Or, take Brightline and get off at MiamiCentral Station, where you can continue on the Metromover to Freedom Tower Station and take a shuttle, drive or use a taxi or rideshare service for a quick and inexpensive trip, or take the free Coral Way Trolley to get to PortMiami.

Car Services and Taxis

Taxis are a good option to get you to PortMiami on time for your cruise. Some rental car agencies and nearby hotels offer courtesy shuttle service to and from the port. You can also open up your favorite ridesharing app to come pick you up and drop you off at the terminal. No need to worry about parking – or even directions.

Go Airport Shuttle offers several transportation options, including private sedan or private SUV from Miami International Airport (MIA) or Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) to PortMiami. The price varies depending on the number of passengers and level of service.

Public Transportation

The only public transit that goes directly to PortMiami is the City of Miami’s Coral Way Route Trolley. If you are in Downtown Miami, catch it at Government Center Station, where it connects with Metrorail, Metromover, Metrobus and Brightline. The Tri-Rail also offers one-stop service from Palm Beach to Downtown Miami, offering easy access to PortMiami for travelers.

PortMiami Parking Rates

Parking is plentiful at PortMiami. Long-term cruise parking is $22 per night, while the daily rate is $8 for short-term parking. The Royal Caribbean Terminal A garage rate is $25 per day. There is no reserved parking.

Oversized Vehicles (oversized vans, recreational vehicles and cars with trailers) can park in Lot #2, directly across from Cruise Terminal E for an added fee. Oversized vehicles (more than 20 feet long) are charged an extra $22 per day.

PortMiami parking accepts cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover or any major U.S. Traveler’s Check. No debit card transactions are accepted. Garage J is pre-paid only so you have to pay when you get to Garage J and are given a decal to post inside your vehicle for the duration of the cruise. For all other parking, you pay as you leave.

On cruise days, all garages and Lot #2 have a parking attendant from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. To access parking garages and Lot #2 on non-cruise days, please contact PortMiami Cruise Operations at (305) 347-4800 or Port Security. All facilities are patrolled by security.

Affordable and safe overnight garage parking is available for as little as $7 in Miami Parking Authority garages conveniently located near PortMiami.
