The Official Website of Greater Miami & Miami Beach
By Kara Franker - August 16, 2023
Full of sunshine and blue skies by day, Miami Beach takes on a new sparkle at night. With a range of exciting nightlife options, from top dance clubs to cocktail lounges and dive bars, you’ll have many choices for after-dark fun. Here’s where to go out when the sun sets.
LIV at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach in Mid Beach is a popular hangout for world-renowned DJs and A-list celebrities. With more than 18,000 square feet across multiple levels, this is the spot to dance the night away.
Nightlife is usually, well, at night, but at Mango’s Tropical Cafe in South Beach, you can party from lunch through dinner and well into the night. At this colorful bar, restaurant and venue, you can get traditional Latin American food with a side of Latin music and dance. This lively cafe is an over-the-top version of the late-1930s Tropicana Club in Havana, Cuba. It’s perfect for someone looking to have a great time with a mojito in hand.
If you’re looking for something different from your everyday nightclub, check out Basement Miami at The Miami Beach EDITION in Mid Beach. This disco-in-disguise hot spot is like a modern-day Studio 54, complete with a glowing bar, bowling alley, ice-skating rink, and, of course, dancing.
Miami is known for its chic hot spots, and Bâoli, a French-Mediterranean restaurant and lounge in South Beach, is one of them. You’ll find indoor-outdoor tables on one side, a raised DJ booth and dance area on the other and plenty of people-watching in between. Its vanishing glass wall, grand crystal chandeliers, plush banquet tables, elegantly strung lights, sultry dancers and sparkler-lit champagne bottles set the stage for a fabulous night out.
For something casual, head to Do Not Sit On The Furniture, just off Lincoln Road. Art, music, and culture combine to create a vibrant music experience, where you’re welcome to do anything – except sit on the furniture. Enjoy live indie bands, special events and a crowd that drifts a bit from the mainstream.
With so many luxurious hotels taking over the Miami Beach skyline, you better believe that many of them double as trendy nighttime hangouts.
On Española Way, El Salón at the Esmé Hotel features some of the most interesting cocktail collections you’ll ever find. The cocktail bar also offers a selection of small plates powered by The Drexel, Esmé’s Mediterranean-inspired restaurant. Pop in on Tuesdays for a drink and live comedy from Miami’s most hilarious comedians. On Thursdays, Cuban Jazz Night promises a fun time with live music and dancing.
Looking for a low-key vibe? Head to the Broken Shaker at the Freehand Miami in Mid Beach. Though it doesn’t feel much like a traditional hotel bar, it’s one of the top cocktail bars in Greater Miami & Miami Beach, serving fantastic drinks in a lush garden setting. Each creation is crafted with herbs grown right on-site. The shady setting and refreshing swimming pool beckon you to linger a while.
Set in the Fontainebleau Miami Beach lobby, Bleau Bar is an iconic spot where, in the 1950s and ’60s, celebrities such as Frank Sinatra and his Rat Pack friends came to see and be seen. Today, this vibrant bar is just as star-studded, and its drinks are as delicious as ever.
Sometimes, there’s nothing better than a good dive bar – and South Beach has a few iconic ones to choose from.
Lost Weekend, on Española Way, pays homage to John Lennon’s Lost Weekend period in the 1970s and keeps regulars coming back for its pool tables and happy hour drinks.
Just across the street from Lost Weekend is Kill Your Idol, a relaxed spot that combines live music and one of the overall best bar values in Miami Beach.
Stop by Ted’s Hideaway, just south of Fifth Street in South Beach, for an extended happy hour and a low-key, no-fuss vibe.
Another laid-back South Beach spot is Mac’s Club Deuce, which Miami residents have loved since its opening in 1926. Known for its 1980s cameo in “Miami Vice,” it boasts a surprising number of A-list fans.
Head south to another Miami Beach dive bar, Minibar, which sits inside the The Meridian Hotel Miami Beach on Fourth Street and Meridian Avenue. As the name implies, the space is small with only a handful of seats, so the odds of striking up a conversation with a fellow patron are in your favor.
