The Official Website of Greater Miami & Miami Beach
By Shayne Benowitz - September 25, 2024
The Brickell area is home to Greater Miami & Miami Beach’s bustling financial district. But it’s not all work here. Brickell is also home to a thriving restaurant and nightlife scene – attracting more than just the businesspeople who work in the area. Visitors will find over-the-top steakhouses, trendy hotel restaurants and fine-dining concepts helmed by exceptional chefs. Plus, a meal in Brickell often means one accompanied by dazzling views of Biscayne Bay and Miami’s iconic skyline.
Tucked inside the Brickell City Centre shopping, dining and entertainment complex, Marabú takes a coal-fired approach to countryside-inspired Cuban cuisine. Dishes are prepared inside a Josper coal oven. This technique draws out rich, smoky flavors. Highlights include slow-braised ropa vieja flank steak marinated in a criolla sauce, whole fried snapper, and lechon asado roasted pork leg with mojo sauce. It’s all served with a variety of sides, from black beans and rice to sweet plantains. The dining room is anchored by a Havana-inspired bar that prepares traditional Cuban cocktails with a modern twist, including a variety of mojtos.
Global reggaeton superstar Bad Bunny and Miami hospitality impresario David Grutman have teamed up to bring you Gekko, a high-end Japanese-inspired steakhouse and lounge in the heart of Brickell. It’s also a celebrity magnet. With lush, red lighting and Asian-inspired décor, the sleek dining room dishes up decadent sushi, crudos and small plates as well as an impressive selection of USDA prime, A5, Wagyu and Kobe steaks. After dinner, the adjacent lounge is a lively spot to mix and mingle while listening to beats from the DJ.
As its name might imply, Sexy Fish is a theatrical, high-energy dining experience that transports guests under the sea. The menu highlights refined Japanese cuisine with an emphasis on seafood, sushi and sashimi as well as robata-grilled steaks. Designed by Martin Brudnizki and incorporating art by modern masters Damien Hirst and Frank Gehry, the dining room is awash in conch-shell pink and aquamarine blue with giant marlin, koi fish and octopus seemingly swimming overhead amid the double-height ceiling. DJs help cultivate a dinner party-like feeling – the later the night gets, the more energetic the vibe.
Dirty French Steakhouse is a high-style French steakhouse that promises a special night out in Brickell with indulgent dishes in a sumptuous setting. With interiors by Ken Fulk, the dining room is decked out in zebra print chairs, red accent lights, glossy lacquered walls with reflective arches, and Venetian glass chandeliers. And the food swings just as big with luxurious preparations of classic steakhouse and French fare. Think shrimp cocktail, wedge salad, duck a l’orange and prime aged porterhouse steak for two. All of this pairs perfectly with a specialty Martini or a bottle of French red.
Set inside the luxurious DUA Miami hotel in the heart of Brickell, Ahumar is a love letter to wood-fired seafood with a global perspective. Helmed by Chef Victor Rosado, the menu highlights the natural flavors of the sea enhanced by the art of wood-fired cooking. The warm and rustic dining room is a place to indulge in everything from half chicken to whole branzino and prawns in yuzu kosho garlic cream. There are also wood-fired pizzas, elegant charcuterie and the must-order brioche Parker rolls with homemade smoked butter and black sesame salt.
A fusion of Asian and Mediterranean cuisine, ConSentido has created a one-of-a-kind culinary delight with its fusion of Asian and Mediterranean flavors in a waterfront Brickell setting. The dining room is bright and colorful with a chic, subtropical appeal, including a bar and both indoor and outdoor seating. So what exactly is Asian-Mediterranean food? Think fried Persian mahi mahi in an “acevichado” sauce and tabouleh; braised short rib bao buns with pickled vegetables, crispy chickpeas and tzatziki; and Josper-grilled chicken. In short: delicious and packed with flavor.
Salty Flame in Brickell is a stylish steakhouse with Asian flair. The creativity starts with the cocktail menu, where bold flavors combine with expert mixology in drinks like the Sichuan chili martini and the spicy guava margarita. Steak is the star of the show, whether it’s a prime bone-in tomahawk to share or the gold label Wagyu hot stone prepared tableside. There are plenty of tantalizing appetizers and sushi options to round out your meal, from the salt-and-pepper calamari to Korean fried chicken and spicy tuna pockets.
Chateau ZZ’s is an upscale Mexican restaurant set inside a 1930s-era manor in the style of a French chateau on Brickell Avenue. With multiple dining rooms, a bar and a glass-enclosed atrium, each space has its own decadent, jungle-like design scheme by Ken Fulk. There’s an emphasis on Mexican seafood, with a mariscos menu and tostadas topped with spicy tuna or lobster and jalapeño. Entrees range from jumbo prawns to spicy lobster fideos and whole fried snapper. But carnivores will find plenty to like with the green mole lamb chop and a variety of al pastor steaks.
