April at CAMP: Opening Reception
Apr 11, 2025
From: 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM
Brooklyn-based artist Julie Peppito invites viewers to explore the boundary between chaos and possibility through textured, multidimensional works. April at CAMP: Opening Reception will be held on Friday, April 11 at The CAMP Gallery in North Miami, launching the gallery's first solo exhibition of 2025.
The exhibition, titled Julie Peppito Chooses Hope, runs from April 11 through May 10 and presents a collection of layered compositions that combine fiber, paint and found objects. Peppito's work examines the tension between expectation and reality, transforming everyday materials into intricate pieces that embrace movement, ambiguity and growth.
Born in 1970, Julie Peppito holds an MFA with a concentration in sculpture from Alfred University and a BFA from The Cooper Union. Her artistic practice focuses on creating creature-like sculptures, layered tapestries, large installations, collages and playground art that explore themes of connection, waste and fantasy. This exhibition marks her tenth solo show.
The Contemporary Art Modern Project (The CAMP Gallery), founded by Melanie Prapopoulos during the pandemic, specializes in showcasing emerging and mid-career artists with a focus on ultra-contemporary approaches to textiles and fiber art. The gallery maintains a commitment to transparency for both artists and collectors, while representing diverse works across textiles, painting, photography, sculpture and installation.
