Earth Day Clean-Up: Miami Waterkeeper
Apr 19, 2025
Starting: 9:00 AM
Connect with nature and contribute to environmental preservation through a community cleanup event at one of Miami's most historically significant coastal areas. The Earth Day 2025 Clean-Up will take place on Saturday, April 19, at Historic Virginia Key Beach Park.
This collaborative effort, co-hosted by Miami Waterkeeper, Historic Virginia Key Beach Park, BLUE Missions, Ballyhoo Media, The Everglades Foundation, Latino Outdoors and PLANTA, begins with a beach yoga session led by Latino Outdoors, followed by a marine debris cleanup that continues until noon.
Participants should arrive at 9:00 a.m. for registration, which begins 30 minutes before the volunteer work starts. The event includes healthy, sustainable food provided by PLANTA, along with refreshments and music. All necessary cleanup supplies will be provided, though volunteers are welcome to bring their own gloves and trash grabbers if preferred.
Important items to bring include a refillable water bottle, closed-toe shoes or water shoes (required), and recommended items such as long-sleeved shirts, a hat and sun block. Volunteers should be prepared to work both on the beach and in the water.
Free parking is available - simply inform the gate attendant you're attending the beach cleanup. Community service hours will be provided for participants, and while the event runs until noon, volunteers are welcome to depart earlier if needed. Please note that the cleanup is weather-dependent and may be canceled with 24 hours' notice if inclement weather is anticipated.
