An intimate showcase of Miami's diverse musical talent arrives at one of the city's most beloved record stores. LIVE AT SWEAT: My Friend Shawn + Iliad will take place at Sweat Records on Saturday, April 5.
The evening features headliner My Friend Shawn, the musical project of 23-year-old Miami native Daeshawn Ureña-March. His blend of hip-hop and indie-folk has earned recognition from publications like Pigeons and Planes, and he has performed at notable festivals including iiiPoints and AfroPunk in New York City. The 2024 EP Training Arc showcases his distinctive "indie rap" sound that draws influence from artists like Chance The Rapper and Tyler, The Creator.
Opening the show is Iliad, an alternative rock band with a growing reputation in Miami's music scene. Recently named by Miami New Times as a band to watch in 2025, Iliad has developed a dedicated local following and has sold out performances at Gramps. Their sound has been compared to artists such as Slow Pulp, Crumb and Paramore.
This all-ages event at Sweat Records, located in Little Haiti, offers refreshments and an opportunity to experience two of Miami's rising musical acts in a casual, community-oriented setting.
