Marielle Plaisir: Rhapsody for a Beloved World
This event has passed.
Marielle Plaisir’s Rhapsody for a Beloved World transforms the Cadillac Hotel & Beach Club into a vivid exploration of resilience, cultural connections and the human spirit. As part of the City of Miami Beach’s No Vacancy exhibition, this intricate collage weaves botanical imagery, salvaged vintage photographs and elements of landscape painting to reflect on fractured identities and the interconnections between people. Through her work, Plaisir offers a critique of prejudice and domination, envisioning a more hopeful, inclusive future.
Plaisir, a French Caribbean multimedia artist based in the United States, is known for her interdisciplinary practice that spans painting, sculpture, public art and design. Her work has been exhibited internationally and explores themes of power, identity and social justice. By combining historical and contemporary influences, she creates thought-provoking pieces that challenge harmful narratives while celebrating shared histories and human resilience.
On view from November 14 to December 12, Rhapsody for a Beloved World is one of 12 site-specific installations in No Vacancy, Miami Beach. Visitors are invited to experience this dynamic piece alongside other artworks that highlight the cultural vibrancy of Miami Beach’s iconic hotels.
