Jun 14, 2025 - Nov 08, 2025
Select Days
From: 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM
Discover the intersection of native plant conservation and artistic expression during an educational workshop series at The Underline. Love The Everglades Movement Presents: Native Plants & Art at The Underline will take place on select Saturdays: June 14, September 20 and November 8. These free workshops (with RSVP required) offer participants a comprehensive introduction to local ecology while fostering creative engagement.
Each workshop follows a thoughtfully structured agenda, beginning at 10:30 a.m. with storytelling and instruction led by Jean Sarmiento. Participants will learn to identify native and invasive plants, understand their ecological significance and master practical skills in plant maintenance, pruning and propagation. Special adaptations for younger children include simplified techniques like clipping propagation. Following a refreshment break at 1:00 p.m., the afternoon session from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. features a creative reflection activity.
The June and September workshops will be held at Vizcaya Station Plaza, located on the north side of the Vizcaya Metro Rail Station, while the November session will take place at the Hammock Playground near 1523 SW 1st Ave. Parking is available at all locations, and translation services will be provided in Spanish and Kreyol. Youth under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
This initiative represents a collaborative effort to connect Miami residents with their natural environment through hands-on learning and artistic engagement.
