Acclaimed poets and musicians unite for an evening of artistic dialogue commemorating National Poetry Month and National Jazz Month. Poetry & Jazz Fusion: Facing Each Other, Facing Ourselves takes place Thursday, April 3 at Iris Photo Collective, presented in collaboration with O,Miami, Wolfsonian Humanities Lab, collaboARTive and Iris Photo Collective iWitness.
This multidisciplinary event features acclaimed poets Romeo Oriogun, Assistant Professor at Florida Atlantic University and winner of the Nigeria Prize for Literature; Rio Cortez, New York Times bestselling author and National Book Award longlist nominee; and Z. Yasmin Waheed, current Poetry Coalition Fellow. Accompanying the readings will be live jazz by vocalist and violinist Nicole Yarling, known for her extensive work as a performer and educator, and Grammy-winning pianist Tal Cohen.
