Poetry in Pajamas
This event has passed.
Discover the enchantment of poetry in a comfortable, child-centered celebration within a lush botanical setting. Poetry in Pajamas returns Saturday, April 5 at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden as part of the O, Miami Poetry Festival lineup.
Now in its eighth year, this free community event invites children to wear their favorite sleepwear while sharing and experiencing poetry under the evening sky. Host Aria welcomes new co-hosts Elijah and Ada to guide young participants through an open mic session where children can recite both original works and beloved published poems before an audience of their peers, all surrounded by dreamy decorations created by The InterKnit.
Beyond the spoken word performances, the event features multiple interactive elements including Mad Arts' immersive poetry technology installation and live music from Miami electronic duo Afrobeta. The Sensory Sonnet Soiree provides a thoughtfully designed poetry experience for children on the autism spectrum and others who may benefit from sensory-friendly activities, developed by Wonder Play.
Additional attractions include a marketplace featuring items made by and for children, fresh crêpes and nutritious refreshments provided by Edible South Florida. This multifaceted evening creates an accessible entry point to poetry appreciation for children at all stages of literary development.
