Strange Natures: Opening Celebration
Apr 10, 2025
From: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Three artists explore the complex relationship between humanity and nature through their unique environmental perspectives in a new exhibition at the Bakehouse Art Complex. Strange Natures: Opening Celebration takes place Thursday, April 10, showcasing works by Bakehouse artists Christine Cortes, Lee Pivnik and Zoe Schweiger. This thoughtfully curated exhibition examines themes of communal care, loss and resilience through the distinctive lens of South Florida's ecological systems.
Curator Krys Ortega, who serves as the Bakehouse's Curatorial & Public Programs Coordinator, has assembled an exhibition that challenges viewers to consider landscapes that exist at the intersection of dystopia and utopia, blurring lines between the familiar and the strange. Through their varied artistic approaches, visitors can explore the complex relationship between human experience and environmental change.
The opening celebration will include complimentary beverages for attendees. Due to limited space, advance RSVP is strongly recommended for this event.
Guests should plan to enter through the pedestrian gate located next to the yellow building on 32nd Street. Free street parking is available on both 32nd Street and 6th Avenue, though ride-sharing is suggested as a convenient alternative.
