The Joy Ride
Through Nov 23, 2024
Set out on a transformative journey across Florida with The Joy Ride, a two-day cycling event from Miami to Key West, taking place November 22-23. Starting at the University of Miami’s Watsco Center, The Joy Ride combines an inspiring 165-mile route with a mission to fundraise for essential Florida-based nonprofit organizations. Formerly known as Smart Ride, this fully supported ride brings together cyclists and volunteers dedicated to making a positive impact through critical services in housing, healthcare, mental health, HIV prevention and support for the LGBTQ+ community.
Along the scenic route, participants will receive logistical support, including pit stops, route guidance, bike tech assistance and first aid. Riders also enjoy overnight accommodations at Hawks Cay Resort in Duck Key, providing a comfortable midpoint rest before continuing to Key West. Cyclists commit to a minimum fundraising goal of $1,200, while volunteer crew members contribute by lending their support along the way.
With 100% of funds raised going directly to five Florida nonprofits - Broward House, Compass, EPIC, Miracle of Love and Pridelines - The Joy Ride aims to make every mile count toward creating a positive impact across communities statewide.
