The Coral Gables community will join in celebrating a historic milestone for one of South Florida's most influential institutions. The UM Centennial Celebration will take place at the University of Miami's Coral Gables Campus on Tuesday, April 8.
This public event commemorates 100 years of the University's contributions to education, research and the South Florida community. The celebration, organized by the University's Centennial Honorary Committee, embraces the theme "The Future is U," highlighting both the institution's achievements and its forward-looking vision.
The evening includes multiple simultaneous activities across campus. From 5-9 p.m., visitors can enjoy the Canes Carnival on the Foote Green, featuring rides, games and music presented by Hurricane Productions. A Centennial Block Party will take place concurrently around the Student Center Complex, with free food stations available from 6-8:30 p.m. and live music along the Lakeside Patio.
The highlight of the evening begins at 7 p.m. with a Centennial Concert featuring performances by notable alumni from the Frost School of Music. Celebrity TV host and University of Miami graduate Jason Kennedy will host this musical showcase, which concludes with video tributes to the University's history. The celebration culminates in a fireworks display over Lake Osceola at 8:30 p.m.
