Homestead Miami Speedway
Sports
For racing fans, seeing an event at Homestead-Miami Speedway is an unforgettable experience in Greater Miami & Miami Beach. The track, located in South Dade, holds major NASCAR races and offers drives (or rides) in race cars, drag races in your own car and go-kart racing. It’s an action-packed venue year-round.
NASCAR Weekend: October 26 & 27, 2024
The weekend’s events begin on Saturday with a doubleheader: the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series playoff race followed by the NASCAR Xfinity Series playoff race.
The Straight Talk Wireless 400 NASCAR Cup Series on Sunday is the weekend’s grand finale: a 267-lap, 400-mile race in the Round of Eight Playoff for the Straight Talk Wireless 400 NASCAR Cup Series Championship.
A variety of ticket packages, premium seating options and VIP experiences are available, including the option to camp at designated RV and tent grounds at the Speedway.
Other Ways to Experience Homestead-Miami Speedway
The 600-acre facility has a 1.5-mile oval course and a 2.21-mile road course. It features events and activities 280 days a year, so head down to the track almost any time to experience the track while you’re visiting Miami.
You can reserve a spot at the NASCAR Racing Experience, which puts you behind the wheel of a race car. You’ll consult with a crew chief, hear one-on-one instructions from a spotter over the radio, and have a brief pit stop after eight minutes of track time before getting back out there to try for a faster time.
Also at the Speedway, the AMR Motorplex, a premier go-kart track with a kart shop and rentals, holds its own races and events.
If you’d like to test your car against others, go to one of the Fast Lane Friday events, which are held once or twice a month. These drag-racing events are open to anyone 18 years and older with a valid driver’s license and proof of registration and insurance. Held from 6 p.m. until midnight, the races pit drivers against each other in their own cars down the 1,760-foot straightaway as spectators cheer them on.
Homestead-Miami Speedway also hosts car shows, motorcycle events, concerts and special events throughout the year, so be sure to check the events calendar when planning your visit. No matter what brings you to the track, you’re sure to have an adrenaline-pumping good time.
The History of Homestead-Miami Speedway
Homestead-Miami Speedway broke ground in 1993 and held its grand opening ceremonies and inaugural race, the Jiffy Lube Miami 300, in November 1995. Dale Jarrett was the first winner. Four years later, Tony Stewart won the Pennzoil 400, the Speedway’s first race in NASCAR’s premier division.
In 2001, the Indy Racing League made its debut at the Speedway, with Sam Hornish Jr. winning the Toyota Indy 300. In November 2002, Homestead became the home of the NASCAR Ford Championship Weekend, when all of NASCAR’s premier leagues concluded their seasons on its track.
In 2009, the Speedway was the first venue to host all of North America’s premier motorsports championship races, including the Indy Car, Grand-Am and Firestone Indy Lights Series, and NASCAR’s Sprint Cup and Nationwide & Camping World Truck Series.
Through the years, famous drivers including Jimmie Johnson, Dario Franchitti, Ron Hornaday Jr. and Austin Dillon have won races at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
