Explore the rich history and ongoing resiliency of Florida’s Jewish community at The Jewish Museum of Florida-FIU. Founded in 1995, JMOF-FIU is the only institution of its kind dedicated to collecting, documenting, preserving and interpreting more than 250 years of Florida Jewish history. The museum has amassed a growing collection of more than 100,000 items, all of which are part of its core exhibit MOSAIC: Jewish Life in Florida, 1763-Present. History buffs and anyone interested in diving deeper into the multifaceted stories of Florida’s Jewish history will find much to explore. The museum also offers extensive programming that includes revolving exhibits, lectures, workshops, walking tours, youth programs, activities for the whole family and notable guest speakers.
Located in the SoFi area of South Beach, JMOF-FIU is housed in two restored historic buildings that once served as synagogue Beth Jacob, the first synagogue on Miami Beach dating back to 1929. The buildings are connected by a glass-domed hallway that serves as a third gallery for the museum.
A museum visit reservation is required.
